Update on Christmas resource orders

Drinkaware has received over 12,000 individual orders for our free health promotion resources, like the home measure cup, since 18 November via our website. To put this figure in context, we received 4,342 online orders in all of 2019. While we were expecting the usual spike in orders that we receive every year ahead of Christmas, this is a truly staggering volume.

That said, it is encouraging that so many people are taking proactive steps to make positive changes to their drinking habits at home to protect health. This is especially important this year, as we know from our research that alcohol consumption has increased in Irish homes during Covid-19. But it also shows a clear and growing willingness amongst the public to be mindful of their drinking and its impact this Christmas.

Delivery delays expected

Please bear with us. For a very small charity team, we are doing our best to manage this level of orders. Please be assured that we are working hard to process as many orders as possible, as quickly as we can. However, it is unlikely that all orders received in the past month will be delivered before Christmas.

An Post is also reporting delays at the moment due to the high demand for deliveries this Christmas. So for any orders we can fulfil, a delay should be expected and we cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. Once we return in the new year, we endeavour to fulfil all orders received.

We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused. And we very much appreciate your understanding and patience.

From all at Drinkaware, we wish you and yours a merry Christmas and peaceful new year.
