Sober Curious Series: No Alcohol Ginger Beer Recipe

Whether you're looking for a healthier alternative to alcohol during isolation or you need a fun activity to involve the whole family, we're here to help. This recipe packs a punch and is a delicious drink to enjoy while relaxing in the garden or on the balcony over one of our ever-longer and brighter Spring evenings.

Ingredients

140g fresh ginger

3 lemons

4 tablespoons of muscovado sugar (another sugar is fine if you don't have this)

Soda or sparkling water

Fresh mint

Method

  • Chop, peel and grate the ginger. Once it looks like a pulp, add to a pestle and mortar.
  • Add the zest of two lemons and the sugar
  • Blend together in your pestle and mortar
  • Scoop the mixture into a jug and squeeze in the juice of three lemons
  • Pour in the soda or sparkling water
  • Leave to sit for 10 minutes. Strain the mixture into a new jug.
  • Add ice and a few sprigs of mint
  • Serve cold and enjoy!
