Sober Curious Series: Autumn No-Alcohol Cocktails

It's no secret that Irish adults are becoming more health conscious and this is no more visible than with the growing movement for more mindful drinking or cutting it out entirely. In fact, one quarter of the population don't drink alcohol at all. Feeling like a change could be good? Explore your sober curiosity with one of these Autumn no-alcohol cocktails.

Cold Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • Cold brew coffee concentrate
  • Sugar syrup
  • Splash of orange bitters (e.g. Angostura)
  • Orange or cherry to garnish

Method:

  • To make sugar syrup, dissolve equal parts of sugar into water. Allow to cool.
  • Stir the ingredients together - aprrox. 2 tbsp of sugar syrup to 1 small cup of coffee.
  • Serve with ice and top with the fruity garnish.

Spiced Apple 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 teaspoons of nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 1 litre of apple juice (not from concentrate) 
  • 1 tablespoon of honey 
  • Squeeze of lemon juice 
  • Apple sliced to garnish

Method:

  • Gently heat the apple juice in a saucepan with all the other ingredients, except the lemon juice.
  • Taste and add lemon if required. Allow to cool completely.
  • Garnish with an apple slice and serve over ice.

Peach Bellini

Ingredients:

  • Peach nectar
  • Ginger ale
  • Fresh berries

(Make sure all ingredients are chilled.)

Method:

  • Pour peach nectar about a quarter way up champagne flutes.
  • Top with ginger ale and fresh berries.
  • Serve immediately.
